Carbon Project Update

It’s time for another update on development of the Carbon project. It’s been a very busy few weeks for us, and we’re edging closer to the Carbon Beta release. Here are some updates of our progress and also future plans.

Firstly, a few weeks ago, we got together and decided to “scale up”. By this, I mean putting serious thought into how the platform will cope with heavy usage from a huge user base. There’s no point building an amazing platform packed full of awesome features, that can only serve 10k users before the system struggles to cope. We want Carbon to run smoothly with 100, 1,000, 100,000 and millions of users. We are excited to announce we have hired a very talented system architect and full stack developer to assist specifically in designing a system that will grow and scale to accommodate an influx in users and constant new features. We would like to welcome Aaron Alderman to our team, and his appointment begins immediately. Aaron is a bit of a genius. With a PhD in Physics, and one of the most impressive developer CVs we have seen, we’re lucky to have him on our team. Aaron is a Perth local, and will work both on-site and remotely for us. We’re also looking to hire more local developers because there’s really no limit to where we plan to take Carbon.

Next, the Beta release. Well, we still don’t have a set date yet, but are still aiming for this month. Everything is on track but we want to do as much internal testing as possible before releasing. We will be limiting the beta testers (accounts) to 10,000 total. Once we hit 10k accounts signed up, we will remove the ability to create an account. This will allow us to monitor the performance of the platform and take feedback from beta users, to make sure everything is as good as it can be before we officially launch Carbon. We have around 6,000 signups already, so only 4,000 to go! Beta testers will earn points for creating content, just like they will in the fully launched product. So there’s a real incentive to be a tester and share in next month’s 300,000 CRBN rewards pool.

If you weren’t already aware, last week we listed on Gate.io exchange! There was a community vote held on their platform and we smashed the vote requirement in no time, and we were listed the next day. Gate is a top 10 crypto exchange and if you ever get tired of UniSwap fees, head over to Gate! Trading links are available on our website.

A few hours ago, the February “Top 300 Rewards” airdrop was completed, as promised. Over $120k of CRBN tokens airdropped. After the beta release, points for the leaderboard will come from a combination of CRBN holdings, and beta app usage. So, February was probably the last month where the airdrop was based solely on holdings. Now, the fun begins!

Lastly, let’s reveal some more Carbon user badges, since you all seemed to like the OG badge so much! Here is a sneak peak of badges for achievements like “10 day post streak” “Carbon Whale” “Upvote Ratio” “User Level” “Giver” and more. These badges will be displayed in a user’s Carbon profile. Details revealed on how to achieve them soon!

Recap of this update:

  1. Beta is on track, but will be limited to the first 10k accounts created.
  2. We’ve hired a brilliant system architect / full stack dev
  3. We’ve been listed on Gate.io!
  4. Some more Carbon user achievement badges revealed :)
  5. February top 300 rewards airdrop is done!

Thanks again for supporting us and we hope you’re as excited about our future as we are!
